Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/22/2009

Number: 1

I spotted a Monarch traveling North West at in my backyard near Alma School Rd and Ocotillo. It was early afternoon.

I am absolutely sure it was a Monarch. I am very familiar with butterflies having worked for years at the Butterfly Pavilion at the DBG. I was so surprised because my yard is often frequented by Painted Ladies, Giant Swallowtails and Gulf Fritillaries. To see the Monarch was very exciting for me! (I know it was not a Queen. I see them quite often where I work, at Veterans Oasis Park in Chandler).
