The following is a quotation from the latest NATURE VIEWS , a news paper type publication from NATURE SASKATCHEWAN.
“This year’s Saskatchewan Bird Counts included unusually large numbers of American Robins. Possibly another global warming reminder, or was it the seemingly bumper crop of HighBush Cranberry? Actually, I like to believe that the robin knew that to be early this spring, the best way was just not to leave! “
Our local newspaper had a picture of a robin standing in snow in a local yard in January—a very cold month! The above quoted paper included this bit of poetry “ How he sings for joy this morn !
How his breast doth pant and glow!
Look you how he stands and sings ,
Half-way up his legs in snow! “
From Robin Redbreast a poem by William Henry Davies (1871-1940 ) 2 nd verse .
