Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 03/28/2009

Number: 1

First Ruby-Throat Hummingbird of the Spring 2009 season visited our feeder at approximately 8 a.m. today. She appeared to be very thirsty and sat at the feeder for several minutes at a time, perched, while drinking. We noticed her , or perhaps another one, feeding again around 2 p.m., and again at 6 p.m. She may have come more often, but we were gone for about 2 hours in the afternoon.

I am noting this date on a separate calendar so that we can compare it with the first sighting of Spring 2010.

Thank you for the excellent migration map with the different colors for date sightings!
