Shortly before 1pm I looked out the window to my front porch and saw butterflies (Painted Ladies) flying over our house, heading north up the San Francisco peninsula. My three kids and my wife joined me outside and watched as hundreds of butterflies flew directly over us. They've been going for half an hour with no sign of letting up. It's an amazing sight. You can't look out the window without seeing some. I've lived here ten years but never noticed the migration before.
