Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/01/2009

Number: 1

I put my hummingbird feeders out this year on Monday afternoon (3/30). This afternoon Wednesday, (4/1) I was refilling the bird seed feeders and I looked up and saw him (the male hummingbird) at one of my feeders. Oh how exciting it always is when you see the first of one of the seasonal birds show up. In this last week and a half I've seen this year's first monarch butterfly; my milkweed returned from the winter die back; I saw my first ever blue bird, and I saw a robin. My garden has vegetables shooting up all over. What a wonderful thing it is to see all these signs of spring.
