Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/02/2009

Number: 1

At my home, we have 5 hummingbird feeders that have been out for 1 and a half weeks. We had to refill them this weekend because the food had gotten moldy.

Thursday, at about 7:30 p.m. we were rewarded by our first visitor. He came to the largest feeder that hangs down from the eaves. My son spotted him first and we watched him feed four times before it became too dark to see him anymore.

We have one feeder at school, but no visitors yet. Our PTO made an outdoor classroom and we hope to hang a feeder there after our spring break.
