Maple Syrup (FIRST Sap Run)

Date: 03/14/2009

Number: 1

Nice warm day on March 14th- 50 degrees F. We tapped several silver maples (we don't have any sugar maples) and got about 4 gallons of sap.

Then there was a cold snap and the sap stopped running for a week. The past two weeks our 2 huge silver maples have given us about 100 gallons of sap and we have made 1.5 gallons of syrup so far (ratio is 60:1 for silver maples.)
