I have one plant grouping of swamp milkweed that has emerged and is about 5 inches out of the ground. The only reason it is that tall is because it was under a wheelbarrow that allowed sunlight and heat on the plant! It was a surprise. The rest of my milkweed is still dormant. I left it in its protected environment so it will survive our current cold weather.
