Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/06/2009

Number: 1

On Friday, April 3, students at Irving Elementary were outside for a school-wide balloon release and a very large, bright Monarch butterfly flew over the whole crowd of students. What a surprise and such a wonderful sight! Saturday, 6 students reported sightings of 14 large, bright Monarchs during the warm afternoon, it was 80 degrees. I sighted one flittering around my milkweed plants trying to find a spot to lay egge. Sunday was very, very windy and about mid-50's. 4 students reported seeing 4 butterflies fighting the wind.
