I finally saw the monarch butterfly. I was at the same place as before (valle vista staging area at upper San Leandro Reservoir) and there was one monarch (several painted ladies also flitting around). I got a very good long look (with and without binocs, perching and flying) as it was there for quite some time. I was pretty excited to realize that I was finally seeing the monarch! I also saw a swallowtail (yellow with black markings, quite large) and what I think are Pacific orange tips (I am definitely not a butterfly expert). Lot' s of Robins coming through.
