Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/09/2009

Number: 1

Today I had a call from my botanist friend in Hiram GA and he was photographing a large Monarch nectaring in his field. He says that having Monarchs there at this time of year (or any time of year) is rare :-)
The spotter is a grower of rare plants and he is actively outside a good many hours of the day. He was thrilled to see this event.

Hiram is in Paulding County northwest of Atlanta, GA.

April 23
Spotted another Monarch nectaring on thistle at 1:30 EDT today. That is second sighting for the first two in over 4 years. Have been in drought conditions for 5 years.
