Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 03/26/2009

Number: 1

Eleven tulips were blooming on April 9, 2009. Some tulips have buds which we hope will bloom. Seven students had no plants. We think that maybe some plants did not grow because they were stepped on because we planted around the flagpole. Most of the class learned how to plant tulips during this investigation. A tulip can have more than one flower. The weather in Kansas caused the plants not to emerge because of the strong winds and cold weather. We had a very dry winter which may have caused them not to emerge. Tulips need to be planted deep in the ground in the fall for them to emerge in the spring. The students who planted before us had a different time line. The life expectancy of a tulip is about 3-4 months. The tulips are beautiful when they are blooming.
