Lake Winnipesaukee
"Small pieces of ice remain floating in coves around Lake Winnipesaukee as Ice-Out was officially declared at around noontime on Easter Sunday.
Dave Emerson from Emerson Aviation called Ice-Out around at 12 p.m. as an ice floe stretching across Meredith Bay slowly disappeared beneath the surface, driven by strong winds.
"Meredith Bay was the last to go," said Emerson. "It was the wind that did it."
Emerson said there was a patch of ice going across the bay near Neil Shore.
"There is still quite a bit of ice in the coves near Alton Bay." Emerson said.
Lake temperatures remain in the high 30s as we approach the spring weather. The earliest Lake Winnipesaukee has iced out was March 28 back in 1921 and the latest was May 12 in 1888. For the past two years, ice out has been declared on April 23.
Ice out on Lake Winnipesaukee occurs when the MS Mount Washington cruise ship can safely navigate between each of its ports: Alton Bay, Center Harbor, Weirs Beach, Meredith and Wolfeboro."
