Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/11/2009

Number: 1

We had our first Monarch of the year born from it's pupa on Saturday. It was an exciting time for us, as we were able to observe the butterfly emerge. She has been flying around the backyard for several days now and has been seen with a boyfriend. As of this report, three days after her emergence we are seeing her laying eggs on on the milkweed plants. This butterfly was marked with a dot on her tail before release, so we could tell if she hangs out around our house. Great fun!!!
