Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/14/2009

Number: 1

Spotted the eggs last week, have been checking daily. This afternoon, there are eggs and very tiny caterpillars, just a few millimeters long. They have started eating holes in the leaves they are on. I hope my milkweed and butterfly weed grows quickly. The plants that overwintered in the yard are only about 3 inches tall. I only brought 3 plants in for the winter. The only nursery I can find that carries milkweed doesn't think they will have any before May or June.
