Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/19/2009

Number: 1

Was checking on overloaded leaves on milkweed today. There are not nearly as many eggs on the leaf as in the beginning but the milkweed is growing by leaps and bounds - so what happens as the leaf expands? Two caterpillars already had hatched on the most overloaded leaf and one caterpillar on another leaf. These are the first caterpillars I have found this season. So what should I do next? These caters will devour this leaf with the many eggs on it. The old stems from last year are still there and there are even a few eggs on the old dry stems.
