Eight out of 18 tulips have suffered a tragic fate. We predict that an animal ate parts of our tulips because animals are known to eat only certain parts of a plant and several of our plants are mostly eaten. This leaves very few of our tulips in good condition. Although we are told that from last year we are lucky because they had a very difficult time keeping the tulips healthy. Also, one of our tulips from our control garden has not bloomed or even grown much. Several of the students wonder what the extra leaves that are not attached to their stems are for. Are they the beginning of a new plant?
