On Thurs. morning when I came to school with Mrs. Swentzel, we were amazed to see that our Empereor Red Tulips had emerged during our spring recess and were 4 inches tall. When we left school on April 9th, none of the tulips were up through the ground. It had been a very cold spring with snow showers on Tuesday the 7th of April. However, beginning on the 10th we had a warm snap come through. By the 16th we were in the high 60s* F, so that burst of warmth must have edged our little plants into emerging. We will let you know when they are in bloom.
