Date: 04/26/2009

Number: 1

We set a new record for the April Toronto Ornithological Club outing with 103 species today. The trees were dripping with birds everywhere.

There were 10 warbler species including 3 female Cape May and enormous numbers of Yellow-rumps, 12 sparrows and 15 kinds of duck. Other good finds included an American Bittern, 2 Green Herons, a Lesser Yellowlegs, a Spotted Sandpiper, 4 American Woodcock, an Iceland Gull, 4 Chimney Swifts, a Great Crested Flycatcher, 2 Warbling Vireos, 2 Swainson's and 3 Wood Thrushes and about 25 Rusty Blackbirds. All in all a very enjoyable day.
