I think this is the earliest I've ever seen a hummer. It was a male of course and was interested in a large red funnel I have above one one of my bird feeders to discourage squirrls. As soon as I saw it I went in and mixed up a batch of hummer food and put out a feeder. It took less than 30 seconds for him to find it and drink. I saw it several times in the next several hours before sunset.
