Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/26/2009

Number: 1

Spotted the first female Ruby-Throat hummer today. She looked to be really thin, to which I promptly filled up and hung my feeder out. In the meantime she went across the road to my neighbors to see if her feeder was out. It wasn't and she shortly returned to feed at my feeder. She must have really been famished, she spent a good while feeding before flying off. I've saw her again several times since then, so it would appear she is the same one of several other who feed here every year.
The weather today is bright sunny skies, and temps in the upper 80's. Which I might add is above average for our location this time of the year.
