Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 04/27/2009

Number: 1

Yes! On Monday (April 27) we heard a robin at the top of a snag, not singing but warming up, making the cheeping sound that they sometimes stick into their song. Then on Tuesday morning (April 28) he was singing, somewhat tentatively, but singing. He was joined by others later in the day, and now (Sunday, May 3) we can fully expect to hear them when we go outside at the right times. Earlier in the week the songs seemed to lack the lusty enthusiasm that is now occurring, possibly because, just like us humans, the robins were somewhat skeptical that the clear skies and warm (65 degree) weather were really happening. However, the record-setting summer-like weather has held all week and we are all (people and robins) reveling in it. The trees and plants are maintaining their reserve and holding back their tender buds, however; they can not afford to be fooled, especially since the temperature still drops below freezing some nights.
