We think it's time to report leaf out of the sugar maples in our area! We've been watching other species, too, as their buds swell and put out their leaves, and then "the next thing you know" the sugar maple leaves were fully out of their buds and fully shaped... small, but fully emerged.

This date is about a week ahead of last season when we reported leaf out of the sugar maples on May 8, and in 2007 we reported May 10 as leaf out for the sugar maples.
