After church today I was sitting on my deck and heard an baltimore oriole. I looked up and saw a male fly down to eat some grape jelly from my feeder. After a bit, he flew back up into the large ash tree in my neighbor's yard and a female flew down to eat.
I had been worried about not seeing any yet and just this morning looked in my journals to find dates of my first sightings of orioles. They were May 8, 9, and 10th in previous years, so I guess this pair is right on schedule.
