Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/12/2009

Number: 1

It was really thrilling to see the first Ruby throat of the season at my window feeder this afternoon. This past weekend I put out hanging baskets of Red and Pink Petunias in hopes that Hummers passing through would take notice. I would have to say that about half of the trees in the area are leafing out and the other half are still just buds. The nights are still very cool mid 30's to 40's and the days have been in the 60's. My yard has been full of Robin's and Songbird's for about 3 weeks now.
