I started searching for our first rubythroat a few days ago when the bleeding heart started blooming. The flowers bloom and the hummers return each year around the same time. Yesterday, I noticed the level of sugar water in the feeder go down . . . but I neither saw nor heard a rubythroat. This morning, there he was hovering and feeding on the bleeding heart flowers. What a delight!
