Every year I can observe an eagle nest from afar. I can't see what is happening in the nest only the activity around it. On the 25th I saw one eagle on a tree near the nest and when it called it was answered from the direction of the nest. Since then (May 12th) the state biologist flew over and told me one eagle was in brooding position (spread flat over the nest). He thought they were either sitting on eggs or protecting tiny chicks.
Eaglets here in Maine seem to hatch out later than further south
