Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/15/2009

Number: 1

saw the first hummingbird of the year sippng from daffodils and crabapple blossoms. We have had bursts of warm weather followed by cold rainy spells and frosts. He seemed very aggressive, tiffing with Mom Robin who is nesting in the crabapple. He took a break on the clothesline sampled from the various blooms and buzzed away, squeaking fiercely. Weather today was overcast, with big storms to the south of us. It struggled to reach 60 degrees with high winds much like yesterday.
