Monarch activity has been reported from 3 new MLMP sites in Kimble County
Last week we observed a 5th instar in our site on the Interstate. Full sun, rocky soil.
Judy H observed several eggs on her site that week.
This week we found nothing on our site.
The same day Judy and I found, on her site, 11 instars in various stages of development in a very small plot. (17 plants)
Today, while walking along a stretch of the same creek downstream from Judy Hall’s ranch, I checked about 3 antelope horn milkweed plants at random.
I found an egg on one, a first instar on another.
.
Interesting to find such a contrast in areas, but that is typical of this part of Texas . We have uplands that are very arid and riparian areas along our streams that are quite lush. Asclepias asperula seems to like both areas, but proliferates on the more arid sunny areas.
