Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/17/2009

Number: 1

A friend reported that she had sighted Monarch larvae on milkweed at the dock on her small lake. Upon investigation we found, 20+ larva, some of which were an inch in length, and many freshly laid eggs. The larva are obviously 8-9 days old, and also there were smaller ones 5-6 days. The eggs are very cream colored yet, so they may have just been laid.
