Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/31/2009

Number: 1

While inspecting the milkweed in my garden yesterday I found a monarch larva; most likely about 2-3 days old. This is rare for me. While I often see eggs, when I leave them on the plant I almost never see a larva later. Perhaps ants and ladybugs get to them first which is why I collect the eggs and rear them indoors.
