Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/09/2009

Number: 1

I was convinced I wouldn't see Monarch eggs for a couple more weeks! Especially since I'd seen only ONE Monarch so far this Spring. I was muttering to myself while bending over the new stalks of milkweed, being proactive this year, checking for pests and disease this year before the 'eggs are delivered'. When I spotted the familiar scalloped & fringed edges of a leaf and below this the unmistakeable teeny tiny specks of frass!
I rescued 12 healthy caterpillars and now that I have 'my' Monarchs to nurture and marvel at, I'm happily 'into' the 2009 Springtime.
