Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/12/2009

Number: 1

i have reported finding eggs in last couple of days and now am happy to report that on the other side of the welland recreational canal i have found babies just hatched. i still have not seen any adult monarchs but of coarse there must be some since i found eggs and larvae.
it has been fairly cold and raining the last couple of days. the larvae i found were in a large patch of milkweed sheltered by a old railway bridge.
i also have seen a large number of yellow swallowtails which i have not seen for the nine years i have lived here. i did see the odd black swallowtail but never the yellow ones.
thanks barb
