i have founds eggs and brand new larvae along the side of the welland recreational canal. i have not seen any adults enough though there most have been some in order to lay the eggs. it has been rather cool and raining this week.
what i have found weird and wonderful, at least to me, is that there is quite a few yellow swallowtail butterflies this year. i have lived here for nine years and this is the first year i have ever seen any. in previous years, we would see the odd black swallowtail but never the yellow ones.
the milkweed is plentiful here and up about one foot apx.
hopefully this will be a great year of monarchs everywhere.
thanks barb
