Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/21/2009

Number: 1

I found 18 monarch eggs on my common milkweed last Thursday (6-18-09). All 18 eggs were put into rearing boxes and 8 of the eggs hatched this morning (6-21). I saw my first female actually laying eggs about 2:00 p.m. today and found 4 more eggs. Always a thrill to see the first Monarch of the season and see that first tiny caterpillar emerge from its shell!
