Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/17/2009

Number: 1

Very cool (63 degrees), overcast. No monarchs in home garden today (usually 1-2 adults daily). My milkweed is getting old. In past five days I released 7 adults raised inhouse (found as eggs in my garden).

Lake Calhoun stormwater pond (first, southern pond): about 150 plants around pond. Most plants were mowed down two weeks ago and are now 1-2 feet tall and tender. ALL monarchs found on NEW growth: 5 eggs, 3 first instar, 3 second instar, 2 third instar.

I will cut down my home milkweed today for re-emergence!
