Today I saw my first Monarch butterfly on the milkweed in my milkweed patch! The milkweed patch is 3 years old. All the other orange and black butterflies I've seen this year have been Viceroys flying in the general butterfly garden away from the milkweed. I am in the gardens every day and this seems late to me. We have had fewer butterflies in general this year and fewer moths as well, with the exception of frittilaries and skippers.
