Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/29/2009

Number: 1

I have now gathered eight monarch caterpillars. All but one, so far, has changed to the chrysalis. I was fortunate to watch one change. It amazes me everytime. They are due to emerge between August 4 and the 6th. Hopefully, all will go well.
I have been rinsing off the milkweed leaves before putting them into the container. The first thing that I look for, before rinsing, is an egg. I find all sorts of other creatures and webs on the leaves. I fear they may harm the caterpillars.
