I snapped this photo of a monarch caterpillar eating milkweed in my garden on Tuesday, July 28th and I thought you might like to see it.
Editor's Notes
1) The larva on the right is the monarch. The larva on the left is a queen. You can identify the queen from the monarch because it has an extra pair of tentacles.
2) This is a significant observation because it documents monarch breeding in central Mexico at this time of year, prior to the arrival of fall migrants from the north.
