August 17, 2009 was the last date I saw a particular male Ruby-throat Hummingbird. On August 14, he began to constantly guard a certain feeder the entire day for three days, Friday through Sunday. On the morning of Monday, August 17, I saw him for a short while, then he was gone. I have not seen any other males since. As soon as the male left, the females began using the feeder the male abandoned, along with the other feeders they had been using.
