Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/21/2009

Number: 1

Editor's Note: Monarchs have roosted at this location in the past.
We are in contact with the observer, and if/when a roost appears this fall it will be reported here.

Comments from the observer:

We just got back from a week in Michigan's upper peninsula (UP). We stopped at Peninsula Point (Stonington Peninsula) on 8/13/09 and saw no Monarchs aggregating there. We did see monarchs daily flying (no directional flight) or nectaring as we were driving or walking east and north of Peninsula Point in the central and eastern UP wherever we went.

I hope to get over to Lake Michigan in the next 2 or 3 weeks to check on the migration along the lakeshore. Will watch the weather for a north wind.
