Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/21/2009

Number: 1

Three male ruby throated hummingbirds have been feeding here, daily for 2 months. I have native plants and 3 hummingbird feeders placed throughout the yard. Cardinal flower and the sugar solution feeders are where they hang out most of the day. Much chasing and hovering goes on as they zoom about "protecting" their feeding spots. These 3 hummers seem to sit on a defensively located tree branch above each of the hummingbird feeders MUCH more than past years; perfectly located to chase each other away, and buzz down at cardinals, squirrels and goldfinchs feeding at a nearby oil sunflower feeder.
