Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/21/2009

Number: 1

I have 5 hummingbird feeders hanging in my garden that hold a total of one gallon of hummingbird food. I am currently refilling all of them every morning. This has been going on for the past 11 days. The types of hummingbirds currently visiting my feeders include black-chinned,broad-tailed,rufous and an occasional calliope. The first black-chinned arrived April 20th and the first rufous arrived July 25. The number of rufous males has declined significantly over the last 3 days. The majority of birds at the feeders currently consists mainly of Black-chinned and broad-tailed males, females and juveniles as well as female and juvenile rufous, with male, female and juvenile calliope and a few rufous males making up the rest
