I finally saw a monarch this year. I usually see many monarchs by this point in the summer. It was late in the afternoon and an adult monarch was patrolling our school's butterfly garden, which contains milkweed. It never landed to feed or lay eggs. I think it was a male, but I never got close enough to know for sure. It was gone the next day.
