Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/25/2009

Number: 1

Brushing the dogs this morning caused quite a distruption of the hummingbird kind. Both a male and female buzzed us several times trying to shoo us from the area of the feeder on the porch. Then they settled in on the blue spruce to wait their jeweled feathers shimmering. This summer, I've been followed by the buzz & squeaks of a female who shadows me while I do things outside. Often she perches in a tree or vine or hovers only a couple feet away. If I let the feeder run dry, she goes from window to window of our bow window gently tapping with her bill. Even though the feeder is on the rear porch, she seems to realize we will most likely be in the living room? It was quite chilly here this morning with heavy dew. It has been classed as a cold summer with only a few days bumping 90, which has made the weatherguessers really moan.
