I went to let my dogs out this morning and throw the ball from the stairs of our screen porch. I heard this weird sound from over my head. I looked up and stuck on the inside screen in our screen porch was a very small hummingbird. It seemed very tired but was still trying to find the doorway to escape. I grabbed the step-ladder and calmly cupped it with my hands-it was a ruby-throat, beak was about 1 inch long, I showed my daughter quickly and turned to the doorway, opened my hand and it flew away, very slowly might I add.
