We were on the water, dolphin watching, and saw 6 hummingbirds within a 45-minute stretch. They were flying about 3 feet above the water level, heading south over the Gulf of Mexico. I can't tell you how far offshore we were, since we toodled around for a while. However the shoreline was always in sight and we were in Corpus Christi Bay, between Ingleside and Corpus Christi. The birds headed out to sea though.
