Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/24/2009

Number: 1

South and southeast of San Antonio and Austin, west and southwest of
Houston I have no words to describe how dry it has gotten ...
except that nine counties (and Victoria County, next to us is one)
have been notified they are in a 110 year drought.
There have been
some spotty showers lately that green things up for a few days but are
in no way drought breakers.

The RT-Hummingbirds are arriving along
the coast looking starved.  We are asking each other to put feeders
out for them so that they can "tank up" for the trip across the Gulf.
I hope the monarchs "tank up" before they get this far down the coast
along the coastal route.
