Property owner informed me of annually recurring gatherings of Monarchs in her yard. I was called on August 24, 2009 and informed of the gathering. I drove to the site and observed approximately 300 Monarchs in four different groups roosting on Maple and Pine trees. They would take flight at my approach (~ ten feet). The owner and I are monitoring this site to verify the length of this gathering.
