I have seen NO Monarch's at my butterfly garden in my back yard this season! In fact, I've seen only one (Sulfur) butterfly. I usually have Swallowtail eggs on my parsley and when a cage is added I rear the new butterflies then release them. I've seen no swallowtails this year! Last year I had Monarchs in a cage until they morphed, developed, then I released the adults. I have even more nectar sources than I had last year. My butterfly weed was less productive this year however I still had some. I assume it is the unseasonably cool, & rainy weather we had this summer.
